Another tremendous season for the Sharks as we once again stood as one and made a difference to our wider
community.
We;
* Pledged to never be violent or silent
* raised funds for BCNA and broke our fundraising record through beanie and sock sales.
* Unveiled the HFC Indigenous jersey and held an Acknowledgement to Country before all games and a smoking
ceremony and Welcome to Country was also conducted by Wurundjeri Elder Ron Jones’s grandchildren.

The Sharks’ commitment to road safety continued with Blake Fairservice representing his father, much loved Sharks coach and clubman Justin Fairservice, who we lost in a road accident in December 2021. Jackson Volpato and David Fruscalzo, each with their own reason for striving for zero proudly represented the Sharks in the reserves and seniors.

We were all delighted to be able to return to play for the season 2021, however the uncertainty that Covid brings has made planning a little more difficult than usual. Unfortunately, our original Pink Ladies round was postponed due to a Covid circuit breaker lockdown and was then played without crowds – but in true Sharks spirit we found a way to continue to support our charity of choice and ran Pink Ladies round over 3 weekends ensuring that every senior team was able to wear the Sharks 2021 pink jumper and maximized our opportunities to support BCNA. Sharks junior teams also showed their support and were fierce in pink. While the tally is finalized yet – we have smashed our $4,000 target and will keep you posted on the full amount donated to BCNA for 2021

Unfortunately, Covid put a stop to our community engagement plans for 2020 and the difficult year faced by all made fundraising very difficult for the Sharks, however we were able to participate in a video campaign and online support for our members and community and ask “R U OK”. 2019

The Sharks made headlines for our support of the Transport Accident Commissions (TAC) Towards Zero campaign. Tragically, every community is affected by road trauma, some personally, others indirectly. In 2012 the Sharks family was deeply saddened when Josh Baillon lost his life in a car accident. In conjunction with Sharks proud community sponsor TEAM and with the support of senior player Jackson Baillon and his family the Sharks took a stand and played our part to strive to make ‘zero the only acceptable number’. During our road safety campaign one player from every single Sharks team wore the number zero and committed to being our ambassadors to promote safe driving practices to all of our members.

Even though the TAC has not continued their Towards Zero campaign in 2021 the Sharks continue to promote the L to P driver program and other important road safety messages to our members.

The Sharks once again supported BCNA and took the White Ribbon Oath to never be violent or silent and donated nearly $3,000 to BCNA through pink merchandise sales and donations.

Sharks Under 18.5 player Zack Williams showed us all what he is made of as we proudly supported his effort to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital and ‘snip the dreads’. With help from the Sharks and our local community Zack raised over $4,000 for the RCH. Well done Zack – we are all very proud of you.

In addition to again taking the Oath and supporting WRA and BCNA the HFC wore rainbow socks and supported Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation and raised funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital and Worlds Greatest Shave.

2018

The Sharks family raised over $6,000 for our charities of choice.

2017

Inspired by then Senior Captain Joel Bonnici and Reserves Captain Alex Koeleman, the HFC embarked on our first community matters major fundraising initiatives and selected White Ribbon Australia (WRA) and Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) as our charities of choice.

The HFC stood proud as we watched our Seniors, Reserves, 19s and 17s take the White Ribbon Oath – all pledging “I will stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women – This is my Oath.” During our first major fundraising initiative the Sharks family raised nearly $5,000 for BCNA and WRA.
